‘LIVE AT THE AMADEUS’

CALL OUT FOR THEATRE SHOW

The Amadeus is looking to programme a theatre show for our next ‘Live At The Amadeus’ double bill evening of theatre on Friday 22nd September 2023.

  • The show will be part of a double bill performance and will take place in either our atmospheric main hall or intimate crypt, depending on the nature of the performance.
  • We can offer free rehearsal space from 10am - 6pm for 5 days from the 28th August to 1st September to rehearse and develop the show, plus a box office split. Rehearsal dates are flexible depending on availability.

What are we looking for?

  • We are open to theatre show submissions of any style, genre or topic, although we are particularly interested in new writing, devised and ensemble based performances.
  • A show which is 45 minutes - 1 hour long.

  • A show appropriate for those aged 16 and above.

  • A production which does not have extensive tech requirements and does not need an extensive lighting rig. Basic stage lighting and a PA system is available to use and you are welcome to rig your own lights.

  • We are looking for a show which is already in the process of being made or has been performed to an audience before.

Who are we looking for?

  • We are looking for an artist or company that would benefit from 5 days of free rehearsal space at The Amadeus in West London.

  • Artists who are striving for artistic excellence and want to use this opportunity to improve their craft and the show they are developing/creating.

  • We want our workforce to be representative of all sections of society and welcome applications from everyone.

Dates:

  • Tech and dress rehearsal w/c 18th September 2023 (date TBC depending on production and venue availability)

  • 5 days worth of free rehearsal space from 10am - 6pm ideally from Monday 28th August - 1st September. We can be flexible on these dates depending on company and rehearsal space availability.

How to apply:

  • Please pitch us your show in however way you like! This could be via a video, a written letter, a powerpoint presentation, an extract of a script, an audio file, or video footage of the show etc. We want these answers to be short and conversational. So please, no more than a few hundred words or a 4 minute video or audio file. If this doesn't work for you, please contact us to discuss another way of applying.

  • We know that applying for opportunities can be time-consuming and emotionally draining, so please apply in a way that is easiest for you.

  • Please include:

    • What the show is about, a bit about the creatives involved, why you are making the show, your future plans and aspirations for the show, why you would like to develop and perform it at The Amadeus, and whether you have any specific tech requirements.
  • Deadline for submissions is Wednesday 12th July 2023 at 9am.
  • Shortlisted applications will be invited to a casual chat, either in person or via Zoom w/c 17th July 2023.

The Amadeus:

The Amadeus is a 150 capacity venue in Maida Vale, West London, that has been used as a rehearsal venue for theatre and classical music since 1989. The former chapel boasts a large hall with enviable acoustics and a grand piano, whilst the lower hall within the crypt is more suited to more intimate performances and rehearsals. Last year we hosted our first public event series - ‘Live At The Amadeus’ with acts such as MaSu and Redberry, Miss Baby Sol and Ed Harcourt. We are hoping to expand this series with more dance, music and theatre performances.

The Amadeus, 50 Shirland Road, London, W9 2JA.
